Michael Franti & Spearhead – The Sound of Sunshine : iTunesLP
December 1, 2010
this was a fun LP we did for Capitol Records over in the US. It features a commentary over the Play LP section, like the (text) commentaries you get on DVDs for want of a better comparison.
Sky Ferreira – One iTunesLP
November 17, 2010
This was an LP done for the debut single of Sky Ferreira.
John Lennon & Yoko Ono – Power To The People & Double Fantasy iTunesLPs
November 17, 2010
These LPs were built to celebrate the 70th birthday of John Lennon. There’s an interesting feature in the Double Fantasy LP, as it offers the original master as well as the newer, “stripped down” mix. We incorporated both into the one song list and you have the option to swap as you go along.
KT Tunstall – Tiger Suit iTunesLP
November 17, 2010
we added a rather effective typing animation for this KT Tunstall album. Using a font like that it was kind of screaming out for it, so we got that in. If on Macs, you will hear the clatter of the old typewriter hammers, but the sound engine (or Quicktime) for Windows wasn’t able to keep sync, so you only get the animation there.
Grinderman – Grinderman 2 iTunesLP
November 17, 2010
carrying on with rock artists, we were asked to make an LP for the 2nd Grinderman album. It had a large artwork story booklet to go along with it, which we incorporated into the LP, as well as a lot of video trailers, mostly all directed by John Hillcoat.
Iron Maiden – The Final Frontier iTunes LP
November 16, 2010
we were asked to create an iTunesLP for Iron Maiden’s new album, The Final Frontier. The art direction evoked classic science fiction, which we tried to work into the LP. On the front page, there’s a rather gruesome floating blood animation – globules of haemoglobin, squidge around in the zero gravity. Deliciously ghoulish fun
Gatecrasher Anthems – iTunesLP
November 16, 2010
Gatecrasher Anthems was one of the first compilation LPs we’d done, and it brought with it some unusual problems in terms of resource use – Apple TVs are quite resource limited. This was quite a learning experience, but we pulled through, and the LP came together quite well. There was also some tricksy “shards” animations, mirroring the diagonal stripes patters used in the main design.
Gorillaz – On Melancholy Hill iTunesLP
November 16, 2010
Straight after Kylie, we began work on a Gorillaz iTunes LP for the single “On Melancholy Hill.” As this was Gorillaz, we were keen to add in CSS animations where possible.
On the home page the side of the SharkSub fades away to reveal the interior, and text bubbles appear, highlighting different parts of the boat.
The songs page highlights each line of the title song as it’s being sung.
The video page has a periscope view, which when changing between the three videos does a quick blur/refocus while the dials of the view spin up/down, left/right. Nice and subtle, but very effective.
Kylie – Aphrodite iTunesLP
November 16, 2010
hello, our apologies for the distance between updates. We’re just too busy it seems…feels like it anyway.
After Professor Green and Lily Allen, we were asked to make an iTunesLP for Kylie. it was interesting for us as it was the first LP we’ve done using <canvas> elements.
Professor Green & Lily Allen – Just Be Good to Me
July 20, 2010
On the previous Professor Green LP, we’d experimentally dipped out toes into the world of timed lyric animations. After another experiment with Roll Deep’s “Good Times” single, we felt compelled to try this again.
Green’s 2nd single was a fun duet with Lily Allen, so we wanted that fun element to come through, and the sliding lyrics animation help develop this concept.
Combined with the wonderful photography, this LP sat at an intersection of pop, nostalgia and fun. Plus I’m sure the Greenmoney remix samples Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman.”
